Its that time of the month when I annoy you all with a new article. This month I'm going to cover the 2 projects that I have played with in my free time. The first one I will go over is this weird cabin model I've been designing. I'm just going to get this out the way and say now that both projects are WIPs (Works in Progress) and so are not finished.
In the beginning this was going to be a showcase for a new chair I had made. I was going to have this little area and at its centre would be the chair. Thats how it started anyway. I just kept on adding to this scene until I had this cabin and kinda went "would people prefer to see a chair or a cabin?"
You can guess what my answer was.
The cabin itself also has an interior thats mostly not finished. Its more of a modern interior so I'm saying that this is a cabin conversion. That would also explain the extension what is mostly made of glass so I'm running with it.
Full disclosure, I did not make those rocks (except the big one at the back right that I sculpted). They are in fact part of the rock essentials by Blender Guru as I don't have time to go about photo scanning 300 rocks. Everything else is mine though from the tree stump and grass to the chair that was going to be showcased but is now hidden partly by a wall.
The layout of the cabin is 3 main rooms and 1 storage area. The biggest room is the kitchen/living area. Its the first area you enter upon entering the cabin. The other main rooms are a bathroom and bedroom which take up the other side of the cabin. I've started to furnish the room using assets from older projects and some new one I've modelled for this scene in particular.
Notice I'm not showing the bathroom. Thats because there is not really much to see in it yet. I've still got to add more things to each room like power sockets, cables, more furniture, odds n' ends. Thats where most of the work for this little project is still to be done. Little concerned that I'm going to run out of memory soon as its already peaking at 20Gb out my 32Gb of ram. Thats what I get for having so many particles systems I guess. Think I have about 10 now most of which control the ground.
I'm sure I'll do some more work on the interior in the next month or so. Not sure If I'll add or change the exterior much as I kinda like it right now. Anyways, onto the next project.
First of all, ignore the head. I made a placed that there when I got tired of having the headless body staring at me. As you might have guess, I spent most of this months free time on the cabin but at the start I spent some time on this one.
I remember trying 3 different feet design before I decided to settle of the current configuration. The other had more of a curvy design and looked awful.
I don't really remember what else I did but apparently I changed the chain that drives the legs swinging. I guess it needed oiled or something as I don't remember why I did it. This 1 is way too shiny though so I'll have to fix that. Actually most of the shaders need changed. Guess I still have some work to do.
I can't think of anything else to add so I'm gonna end this. If you like my work you can follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and Deviant Art for all of my updates or to see some of the things I've done in the past.
If your interested in Hiring me for some work you can find me on People Per Hour, Freelancer, or contact me on here. I'm always open to chat even if its just about the weather. FYI I live in Scotland so its raining.
