Hello and Welcome to the Weekly Round-Up. The Blog that details what I do week to week. This weeks events include rigging my robot character, and working on a Pip-Boy design.
This past week I have been working on rigging the robot character so it will be much easier to animate later on. Before I could pose the robot by moving the individual parts but that wasn't going to work well if I wanted to animate it so I created a character rig for it.
I started at the top and worked my way down the model making separate bones for each of the joints. I have also added in IK controllers for the arms and legs but due to the amount of joints and restrictions, posing the characters is still a bit of a pain.
The most difficult part of the rigging was dealing with the feet. I had to design the joints in the feet about 3 times until I had the design that appears above. The rig isn't finished yet and I still have a few revisions to make to the character itself
So as some of you may have heard, Fallout 4 has been announced and they are doing a special edition of the game that comes with a real life Pip-Boy. A Pip-Boy is this computer that fits around your wrist and the one they are making for the special edition of the game will house you smart phone.
Well I've been thinking of making something similar but less bulky that could be 3D printed. I've started to sketch out ideas about how it would look and be built. If successful, I'll put it on my My Mini Factory account so you will be able to get it printed and download the design for your own purposes.
I'm going to base the first design to fit an iPhone 4S as that's my current (if not a little old) phone and I have all there measurements of it quite literally at hand. If I can get it to work properly, I'll make several variations to fit different phones.
Batman Arkham Knight came out on Tuesday. Awesome game. Really awesome. Not even half way though the main story yet. Though I think they should have renamed the Bat-Mobile to Bat-Tank. Damn thing is very fast and very tough. Plus, it has a really big gun. So yeah, Bat-Tank.
Been thinking about maybe basing this weeks Weekend Challenge Batman themed in honour of the new game. Maybe not though. Who knows, maybe I'll have finished the game by then.
Ahahahahahahaha. Not a chance. Maybe in a week or so.
