Its that time of week again when I tell you lovely people what I've been up to. This week I returned to work on my old Harley Quinn character model that I made back in May.
The Harley Quinn Character Rig
So this week I decided to work on my old Harley Quinn model. There were a few things that have bugged me about the character that I made a few months back which were mainly the feet didn't move quite right, the face shape wasn't that great, and the hands just looked wrong. The plan this week was to completely remodel the face, alter the hands, and upgrade the rig so I would would be happier with the over all outcome.
The first thing I did was to actually move the shoulder bones in closer to the body. I hadn't noticed before but they were way too far out for a normal person. I then completely removed the face leaving just the hood of her outfit and replaced it with a copy of the Jokers face with no materials or textures. I then started moving around the geometry of the face to make a more feminine appearance. I then went about making a make-up texture and modified the face rig from Joker to suit the new shape of the face. All that was left to do from there was to connect this new face and rig to the older model.
The next major part I worked on was her hands. As you can see in the images below, the thumb on the older model was way out of place and the wrist was a bit too long. It took a little longer to fix this than I had hoped because I had to fix a little topology so it could move properly. I also straightened the knuckles and reset all the bones in the rig to match the new hand shape.
I've not gotten around to fixing the foot and I'm thinking of upgrading the elbow poll too just like in the Jokers. Not sure what I'll do after that, feel as though I should an animation or something with both Harley & Joker. I would need some audio for that to happen though.
