This weeks events include making the Halo energy sword, changing the doors of the hallway and rendering out the Davros weekend challenge.
Halo Energy Sword
So on Tuesday I decided to make a weapon from Halo to go along with the helmet I made the week before. After looking through most of the weapons that appear from the game series, I decided to go with what is probably the most famous weapon from the series.
The most challenging part of making this was getting the look of the sword blade. I used several textures to create the electrical effect and to add a red outline to the blade. The red outline was taken from the sword that appeared in Halo 2 that later disappeared from the design. The actual glow was added using the compositor using multiple blur and glow modes to give the sword its final look. The final step I took was to make a render with the sword and the helmet.
I choose to use the classic crossed sword look with the helmet in front. I later decided to add in the flaming skull that the ODST have on there emblems to add a little something to the image. I've made a 1080p wallpaper of this in case anyone wants to use it. You can get it Here
Changing the Doors
I decided to try out another design for the doors of the hallway interior I have been building.
The newer design fits the story more due to the size of the windows but I'm still not sure if it fits the rest of the ship. I may continue to redesign the door as it goes on or the panels on the hallways.
Rendering Out Davros
So on Sunday night I finished the main animating of the Davros character with the sound file and I am now rendering out the animation. I hope to have the animation fully rendered out by the end of next week. So far I have rendered out nearly half of the total animation so as long as nothing interferes with it, it should be finished on time. However, due to rendering it out at night, my sleeping pattern may never recover.
This weekend I will be attempting to import the assets into a game engine. The engine I will be using is Unity 3D as its already on my system.
That's it for this week. Tune in next week for my update on my weekend challenge update and weekly round-up. As always, you can follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and Deviant Art.
