This weeks weekend challenge focused on making a tribute to Leonard Nimoy who died at the age of 83 on Friday.
As I have been a Star Trek fan for as long as I can remember and its what I associate most with Leonard Nimoy, I decided the image I created would focus on that area of his life. The image is based upon Commander Spock's quarters he had on the U.S.S.Enterprise back in the original series.
As with a lot of the sets of the original series, the look and theme of them changed slightly as the show went on. I decide that it would be best to recreate some objects that had appeared in the room but were not always present throughout the show. An example of this is the desk. I choose the wooden desk that appeared for a while instead of the other desk which was a white and more of a angular shape.
I decided to add a name plate so no-one confused Spock's quarters with anyone else but as far as I know, he never had a name plate.
I also added in a "fixed" version of the monitor he annihilated in one episode with his bare hands. I've linked a video below so you can see it get smashed. I like to think he tried to fix it after that little outrage but in reality, the monitor didn't return from the smashing.
Hell Yeah, Spock SMASH!!
I nearly added in Spock's musical instrument as its a rather prominent part of his character but decied not to for 2 reasons. 1: I didn't want the image to become too cluttered and 2: I ran out of time.
