This weeks challenge focused on making the facial rig for Davros as well as creating a little backdrop, modelling the teeth, and fixing part of the Daleks behind him.
The facial rig covers the jaw, mouth, cheeks, forehead, nose, and the top eye. This allows for a wide variety of expressions to be shown by the character. That said, making the characters seem happy is a fair challenge as the nature of the character is evil. The rig consists of shape keys to alter the base mesh terrain while drivers power the shape keys from the skeleton rig. This was done so it is eay to animate the face later in this project.
While rigging, the proportions of the head were shrunk to fit more with the scale of the body as it seemed a little too big before. Other parts of the body were also alters scale wise such as the thickness of the right arm as to try and keep things consistent.
The background was created purely because I became tired of the plain grey one I was using. Its just two tunnels connected in a Y shape with a little area in the middle to place Davros and the Daleks.
Next weeks challenge will hopefully be recording the audio and animating the lip sync. This will depend on if the microphone I ordered arrives in time. If not, I will use another sound file and lip sync Davros to that.
Any suggestions or critiques on the character so far are more than welcome.
